How do you sell antiques for a fair price? Estate sale?
We bought a house and all the contents were conveyed with the property. The old couple died, had no kids, left the property to a relative out of state who just said, sell it all together. Well, we are trying to figure out how to price things for an estate sale or if we should take the items to an antique dealer? There is a lot of depression glass, sterling silver candle sticks, mink coat, and art. I called someone out of the phonebook who helps with estate sales, she came over and asked US how much do you want for the grandfather clock? We thought she would help us, but instead she put about 60 items in several boxes and offered $125. We thought she was going to get a percent of profits after an estate sale, she thought she would just pick and choose items and pay us a flat amount. We declined her offer, because we really don't know what things are worth. What would you do?
most times some people just have yard sales an end up getting ripped off. the best thing to do is go to a auction place and have them auction it off. most auctions places know the value of things since they do it so much. doing it any other way people will want a bargain an refuse to pay what the items is worth
