Question about Peanut Butter in the country of Peru.?
So i have an international marketing project due next week over a country and a product. I have started my research and I can not even find out of the country of Peru has or even eats peanut butter. Has anyone been to Peru and seen peanut butter on their shelves? And if soo, how is it different from american peanut butter? (packaging, price, flavor, look ect.)
If peanut butter is not big in Peru, how would you change american peanut butter to market the Peruvian market? Also, is peanut oil hard to find in peru. Do they just not use it a lot? Or is it just scarce there.
What a funny question. I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Bolivia and peanut butter was a standard "luxury item" among volunteers. I would add to the other responses that I never met a Bolivian who didn't like peanut butter. However, it was only available in urban supermarkets at inflated prices (because it was imported American peanut butter) so access was an issue.
I know of several women's groups who after learning how to make peanut butter, as peanuts are widely available, began to market it on their own quite successfully.
